A Little About Us
We’re Abby & Kayt, longtime friends, avid readers, and believers that some of the best conversations happen over a good book and a glass of wine.
We’ve always loved the way a great story can bring people together. The kind of book you can’t stop thinking about, the characters you wish you could talk to someone about, and the conversations that somehow turn into hours of laughter and connection.
That love of books, friendship, and finding little moments to escape everyday life is how Unwritten Escapes came to be.
For us, an escape doesn’t always mean packing a suitcase. Sometimes it’s a weekend somewhere beautiful, a slow morning with coffee, or an evening spent talking about a book you couldn’t put down.
The Monthly Pour is our way of bringing women together through books and conversation. Whether you join us in person around Des Moines or virtually from wherever you are, there’s always a seat for you.
On our blog, Read with a Red, we share what we’re reading, what we’re loving (and maybe what we’re not), along with book recommendations, wine pairings, and a little inspiration for your next great read.
And because we believe some of the best memories are made when we step away from our everyday routines, we’re also dreaming up book-inspired retreats in beautiful places, with thoughtful experiences, plenty of time to read, and the kind of connections that last long after the trip ends.
At the heart of it all, Unwritten Escapes is about making time for the things we love: good books, new experiences, meaningful friendships, and a little escape now and then.
