Along the way
A remote island. Five women who vanished without a trace. A century-old séance story. And now people are disappearing again. The Unknown by Riley Sager takes us to New Avalon, an isolated Vermont island with a past that is equal parts fascinating and unsettling. What begins as a research trip for a movie quickly turns into strange noises, mysterious symbols, growing suspicion and one very important question: Is there really something haunting this island…or is someone making sure its history repeats itself? So what are we pouring while we read? Pinot Noir. 🍷 Pinot Noir feels just right for this one. It can be dark and earthy without being too heavy, with flavors of cherry, blackberry, spice and those slightly woodsy notes that immediately make me think of a chilly Vermont night. It’s smooth enough to settle in with, but moody enough for a book filled with séances, disappearances and an island where absolutely no one should be wandering around alone after dark. Basically: light the candle, pour the wine and maybe don’t investigate that noise outside. 🍷 The Read: The Unknown by Riley Sager 🍷 The Red: Pinot Noir
